If you want to experience APLIC annual meeting, communicate with peers, make new friends, welcome to join APLIC volunteer team. APLIC Volunteer Team is responsible for receiving attendees during the conference, checking the name tag, guiding the direction, and assisting other important work. In the Conference, you can learn more or apply to join. (You must register for 2019 APLIC to join the APLIC Volunteer Team.) All APLIC Volunteer Teams must attend the APLIC Volunteer Team briefing held on the afternoon of May 29, 2019. In the briefing session, you will learn about the work. How can APLIC2019 help?
To assist you in applying for a visa and going to a meeting, the organizer may send an invitation. If you need this invitation, please submit your application to us at least two months before the start of the meeting. When we receive and verify that the required documents are correct, we will send you an invitation letter within one week. Under normal circumstances, it will take four to six weeks for the Immigration Department to process the visa / entry permit application for travel / transit in Hong Kong after receiving the required documents. Please note that the Hong Kong Immigration Department has the power to decide whether or not to issue a visa.

Transportation
By Air
Passengers arriving by air can take the 1-min Airport Express ride from Airport Station to AsiaWorld-Expo Station.
Passengers arriving at level 5 (Arrival Hall), leaving the immigration and baggage claim areas walk straight ahead through the Greeting Hall and go up to level 6 (Departure Level) to board the Airport Express train to AWE. It takes around 1 minute from Airport Station to AWE Station.

By Airport Express/MTR

Ample parking space is available at the SkyCity Carpark (near to the West Entrance of AsiaWorld-Expo) for private cars and motor cycles. Parking rate is offered at HK$18 per parking hour or HK$90 for prepaid day-park (for period from 8:00am to 8:00pm) or 24-hour parking is $144.

Climate
Hong Kong has a sub-tropical climate with seasonal changes. In March, temperature and humidity are rising. Evenings can be cool. Temperature ranges from 17℃ – 26℃.

Language
Cantonese is spoken by over 88% of the people in Hong Kong. However, English, as another official language in Hong Kong, is also widely used in the city, and most of the taxi drivers and salespersons are able to communicate in English.
Currency and Credit Card
The Hong Kong Dollar (HK$) is the unit currency used in Hong Kong. USD$1 is about HK$7.80. Most foreign currencies and traveler's cheques can be changed over banks, hotels and moneychangers. There are no restrictions on the type or amount of money that can be brought into or taken out of Hong Kong.
All major credit cards are widely accepted in Hong Kong and can be used to obtain cash advances at banks and automatic teller machines (ATMs). ATMs can be found almost everywhere and at the meeting venue, and provide 24-hour cash withdrawal (HK$).
Business Hours
Generally, offices of commercial establishments and government departments are open from 9am to 5pm on weekdays. Some are open on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. Major banks are open from 9am to 4:30pm on weekdays and 9am to 12:30pm on Saturdays.
Major banks are open from 9am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 12:30pm on Saturday, closing on Sundays and public holidays. Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) can be found almost everywhere and provide 24-hour cash withdrawal (HK$).
Most shops and department stores are open daily from 10am to 9pm, while 24-hour convenience shops are located all over the city.
Electricity
The standard voltage in Hong Kong is 220 volts AC/50 cycles. The plug/ socket system in Hong Kong is a 3-rectangular-pin type.
Telecommunication
Most of the world’s mobile telecommunications systems operate in Hong Kong, including GSM 900, PCS 1800, LTE, CDMA and WCDMA. Check if your service provider has a roaming agreement with a Hong Kong operator. And be sure to pay attention to the roaming rates!

Lost passport
If you lose your passport, make a 'lost report' at the nearest police station (call the Police Hotline 2527 7177 for locations or refer to their website to find a Report Room). Then contact your consulate to have your passport replaced.
Lost or stolen wallet
If your wallet or valuables are lost or stolen, please notify your hotel immediately and report the theft to police. Keep a separate record of your credit card numbers and report the loss to your card issuers as quickly as possible. Please check with your credit card issuers or insurance company for emergency assistance. Most issuers have toll-free numbers and 24-hour services to deal with such emergencies.
